All these paintings, except for Dun Aengus, I have painted in the Midlands, around the area of Birr and the Slieve Bloom. I work mainly on the spot, taking my paints into the fields, bogs and hills, or from the car. Then I finish them in the studio. Sometimes it takes months before I know if a painting is finished – sometimes I never know!
